Bangkok Sponge Park to Solve Urban Ecological Problems

Benjakitti公园位于前烟草工厂区，占地72万平方米，烟草厂搬迁后，该地被开发成为曼谷的城市公园。

公园的设计理念首先是为了提高公众对城市社区生态、森林、水文、环境的认识；其次是成为生态园区建设的主动者，通过对水的利用来解决城市的生态问题。

Benjakitti Park is located in the former tobacco factory area, covering an area of 720000 square meters. After the tobacco factory was relocated, the area was developed into an urban park in Bangkok.

The design concept of the park is first to enhance public awareness of the ecology, forests, hydrology, and environment of urban communities; Secondly, it is necessary to become an initiative in the construction of ecological parks, solving urban water environmental problems through the utilization of water.

泰国是季风气候，洪水和干旱是一个严重的问题。设计就像一块大海绵，可以在雨季保留雨水，在旱季排水，总容量为12万立方米。位于公园附近的运河受到城市径流和污水污染，并通过湿地植物进行生物修复净化，每天可产生1600立方米的清洁水。

Thailand has a monsoon climate, and floods and droughts are a serious problem. The design is like a large sponge that can retain rainwater during the rainy season and drain water during the dry season, with a total capacity of 120000 cubic meters. The canal located near the park is polluted by urban runoff and sewage, and is bioremediation and purification through wetland plants, producing 1600 cubic meters of clean water per day.

公园内场地地势平坦、低洼，平均海拔仅0.5米。该地原本大部分地区是沼泽地，地下水位较高。

The site within the park is flat and low-lying, with an average elevation of only 0.5 meters. Most of the area was originally swampy, with a high groundwater level.

公园内区域由1.67公里长的空中步道连接贯通，天空步道是一条休闲和自然学习路径。

The area within the park is connected by a 1.67 kilometer long aerial trail, which is a leisure and natural learning path.

适合各年龄段和群体的空间被整合在一起，如自行车道、树冠下的小路、木板路、康复花园、阳光草坪和带圆形剧场的海滨凉亭。

Various spaces suitable for all age groups and groups are integrated together, such as bicycle lanes, paths under tree canopies, boardwalks, rehabilitation gardens, sunny lawns, and seaside pavilions with circular theaters.

场地内使用了填挖土方技术来创造地形特征，场地材料被重复利用，现场拆除的石头和混凝土被用作护堤岛和滤水层的基础。

重新利用现有的混凝土铺路块作为自行车停放路面，昔日的烟草工厂被改造成各种设施建筑。

The site uses excavation and filling techniques to create terrain features, and the materials are reused. The stones and concrete removed on site are used as the foundation for the embankment island and filter layer.

Reusing existing concrete paving blocks as bicycle parking surfaces, the former tobacco factory has been transformed into various facility buildings.

Establish a rich local plant ecological community

项目将坚硬的表层土壤转变为潮湿松软的栖息地，使丰富的本土植物群落能够在最少用水量下建立起来。这个森林公园为城市创造了整体的生态系统，将成为曼谷人的生物多样性植物教室。

The project transforms the hard surface soil into a moist and soft habitat, enabling the establishment of a rich indigenous plant community with minimal water use. This forest park has created an overall ecosystem for the city and will become a biodiversity plant classroom for the people of Bangkok.

公园种植了360个品种5600株苗木，这些苗木是中部地区的珍稀乡土树种，现场所有现有的树木都被保留并融入公园设计中，与中小型植物混合，为苗木提供遮荫和生长。

The park has planted 360 varieties of 5600 seedlings, which are rare local tree species in the central watershed. All existing trees on site have been preserved and integrated into the park design, mixed with small and medium-sized plants to provide shade and growth for the seedlings.
