Otherwise, I can give you some data from Water Treatment Handbook from Degremont (1979).

High-rate filters-7 to 20 m/Hour (2.8 to 8 gpm/sq ft, please note many US states only allow the max. rate to be 5 gpm/sq ft):
V-type with a single media: 1. Depth of water above the filter bed never less than 1 m and is usually 1.2 m; 2. deep fitler bed (depth vary with the raw and effluent water quality, Sand media, effective size=0.95 to 1.35 mm, I use 0.95 to 1.05); 3. Filtration rate=2.8 to 8 gpm/sq ft (I use 4); 4. Backwash rate=5.2 to 6 gpm per sq.ft (I use 15, this is why V-type is popular), backwash of air scour 2.7 to 3.2 cu ft/min sq ft.
Finally, you can go width to Length ratio of 1:2.7, to 1:4, but the widths are 3, 3.5, 4 and 5 m.
These data should be good for your design.
I have one questions to you,
1. How do you control your Filter-to-waste (there is a turbidity spike at your initial operation, how can you avoid that?);
2. How do you deal with backwash wastes?

楼上的仁兄似乎是外国人耶!这么爱用英语.

就我的经验来看,它并不比快滤池难多少.注意进出水的布置,滤料的采用.其他如楼上所说.采用全自动控制.

I am not a foreigner, but I do not have the Chinese software to wirte any Chinese.

Someone need design data, and just provide to him. If you have more info, you should post here, not a comment.

If you have more experience, just answer two of my questions listed above. Filter-to-waste, and backwash waste recycle and treatment are two major concerns in plant design.
