这栋建筑坐落在地块两个升起部位中间的一个过渡区域中，有着一个用明显的带有自发性和几何性偏移的、延续着更高层地面的屋顶。建筑的平面增加了室外的空间，同时重塑了地形，使其更好地为文化中心的空间组织服务。通过这样的设计，巴米扬山谷和远处的大佛壁的毫无遮拦的视野可以在基地的几乎所有地方被看到，更深一步地将文化中心融入了地形之中。 the building sits within a transition area between the plot’s two elevations, with a roof extending the higher ground with an apparently spontaneous and offset geometry. the plan increases outdoor space, while also recreating the landscape that better serves the center’s spatial organization. by doing so unobstructed views of the bamiyan valley and distant buddha cliff are seen from almost every place on the site, further immersing the center into the landscape.

基于庭院这个概念在当地文化和建筑中的重要性，所有的房间被安排在一个中心庭院周边，并拥有一个室内的环状空间来联系每一个区域。这个庭院提供了宽敞的空间，非常适合举办艺术、考古、装置和活动；以及在建筑物内的朝向。这种中心化的处理将所有功能和人群紧密地聚集起来。除了小一点的环境影响以外，这个庭院也为参观者们之间频繁的非正式会议和非正式的聚会创造了可能。 based on the importance of courtyards in vernacular culture and architecture, all rooms are arranged around a central atrium with an inner ring connecting each area. it provides generous space well suited to hosting art, archeology, installations and events; as well as orientation within the building. the centralization brings all functions, as well as people, closer together. besides the smaller environmental impact, it creates potential for frequent informal meetings and casual encounters among visitors.

在文化中心花园中园林景观上的策略是人行道的排列。它在平面上有着强烈的伊斯兰教特色，以一个源于中央庭院内向外辐射的几何状的花朵为基础。在伊斯兰传统中，水扮演着很重要的角色。两个集水池被放置在基地的高低限值上。水渠利用重力流动连接了两个水池。地板通风口贯穿了整个建筑，被水渠所拦截，在夏季保持了空间的凉爽。 the landscaping strategy for the center’s gardens is a matrix of pedestrian paths. the plan has strong islamic influence, based on a geometric flower that originates within the central courtyard and radiates outwards. within islamic tradition, water plays an important role. two water reservoirs are placed at the low-and-high limits of the site. water channels connect the two via gravity irrigation. floor vents throughout the building, intercepted by water channels, keep the space cool during summer months.

曲线的混凝土围墙增强了建筑承受地震的能力，同时减弱了墙体的厚度。遵循竞赛说明中使用当地材料的要求，所有建筑立面和外部的墙体均用一层夯土砖完成。在主要结构中使用的砖都经过烧制，以增加耐用性，而外部墙体中使用的砖都采用晒干的方式，是一个较低成本的选择，从而减少了建造成本。 curved concrete boundary walls improve the ability of the building to withstand seismic events while simultaneously reducing wall thickness. all building façades and external walls are finished with a layer of loam bricks, which completed the local materials requirement of the brief. bricks used for the main structure were fire baked to increase durability, and bricks used for exterior walls were sun-baked, a lower cost option, in order to reduce construction costs.
