在提到“假如台湾在美国支持下宣布独立中国作何反应”时，沙祖康的态度同样鲜明。他说：“台湾不管在谁支持下，从宣布独立的那一刻起，中国（大陆）就没有其他选择了。我们将使用我国政府能够使用的一切手段，自行解决问题。任何人对此不要心存任何幻想，我们将不惜一切代价解决问题。”
