Overview
John Portman & Associates （PORTMAN） was
awarded the design commission for the new $156
million （general construction cost） Renaissance Hotel
and Convention Center in September, 2001. The
convention center holds 159,000 SF of meeting space
and features a 100,000 SF exhibit hall and a 28,000
SF ballroom. Supporting the convention center is a
500-room Renaissance Hotel and surface parking for
approximately 1,600 cars. The project’s components
are linked via covered connections, and grouped
around landscaped water gardens. Both the hotel and
the convention center are being operated by Marriott
International.
