Nature and recreation area De Heide in Bergen op Zoom is a recreation area that was created in the 60's. It consisted of a sand excavation with a canoe pond and a swimming pond surrounded by a sandy beach and a forest area. After years of silent decline, the area has been revived. For this purpose, the ponds are connected and deepened, so that the water quality is guaranteed. Furthermore, there is a clearer structure in the area with the recreation area on the road, and behind it the quieter nature reserve. Part of the plan is to also add some recreational elements. These consist of a bridge that connects the recreational area to the nature reserve, a picnic area/experience point and a viewpoint.
